I have an analytical mind, and it is both a blessing and a curse.
It’s a blessing because I can think things through, logically analyze options, and hopefully make rational decisions. It is a curse because I tend to overthink things. I tend to make plans that are elaborate, intricate and all-encompassing.
And that is the problem. Elaborate plans are a waste of time, especially if you have not figured out if your idea is actually worth your time.
Whatever your idea, the first step is to determine whether it’s valuable to someone else. Spending time thinking about it, analyzing all angles, and figuring out how to mitigate the most trivial of risks is all a form of overthinking.
Overthinking leads to paralysis, which leads to fear and then inaction.
Stop.
Have an idea, start by validating it. Don’t wait.
Start now.
